This hands-on course guides students through the fundamentals of IoT and its transformative role in sectors like Agriculture, Healthcare, Energy, and Manufacturing. Over 12 weeks, students work with WiFi-enabled development boards (ESP8266 & ESP32), sensors, actuators, communication protocols, cloud platforms, and PCB design. The course offers a comprehensive journey from hardware interfacing to cloud integration, preparing students to build connected, real-world IoT applications.


🎯 Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand core IoT components, protocols, and communication methods (HTTP, MQTT)
  • Develop wireless IoT applications integrating sensors and actuators
  • Use cloud platforms like Firebase, Blynk, and AWS for data visualization and storage
  • Design and fabricate custom PCBs for IoT hardware
  • Build complete IoT solutions for real-world problems with web and mobile interfaces

📚 Course Structure

Week 1: Introduction to IoT & Major Components
Overview of IoT systems, ESP8266 & ESP32 boards, sensors, and system architecture.

Week 2: Application Building & Web Server Interface
Control LEDs and sensors with WiFi modules and create simple web servers.

Week 3: HTTP Client-Server Communication & APIs
Learn HTTP protocols (GET, POST) and APIs to connect devices over the internet.

Week 4: MQTT Publish-Subscribe & Data Visualization
Implement MQTT communication using HiveMQ and visualize data on platforms like Adafruit IO.

Week 5: Use Case 1 - Indoor Air Quality or Temperature Monitoring
Build an end-to-end IoT solution for environmental monitoring.

Week 6: Real-time Database with Firebase
Store and update IoT data in real time using Firebase cloud services.

Week 7: Integration with Cloud Platforms
Use Blynk IoT, Arduino Cloud, AWS, or Google Cloud for advanced data storage and analytics.

Week 8: Use Case 2 - Home Automation & Precision Farming
Develop IoT applications for smart homes and agriculture monitoring.

Week 9: PCB Designing with Autodesk Eagle
Create schematics and layout printed circuit boards for IoT devices.

Week 10: Hardware Board Development & Soldering
Build and assemble custom hardware boards with soldering techniques.

Week 11: UI/UX Design for IoT Dashboards
Design web or mobile interfaces for IoT data visualization using HTML, Ubidots, or Figma.
